Anniversary campaign for KOSMOS

Nostalgia but with a fresh coat of paint.

Objective & goal

“We are turning 15. That’s a reason to celebrate. But how do we properly celebrate a tabletop game?”

Insights

The game is a classic with a cult factor. Its anniversary is the perfect opportunity to revive the old and give it a fresh look.

The idea

Everything stays new: By increasing the quality of the packaging, we simultaneously increase the nostalgic effect and the customer’s emotional bond with the product.

The implementation

With the campaign we want to reach audiences beyond the existing fan base. Our approach: Promotions in food retail. In addition to the redesign of the packaging, co-op promotions with Landliebe and RITTER SPORT create the necessary reach.
And what do the customers get out of it? Each pack of RITTER SPORT Minis contains an online code for the campaign landing page. On the website buyers can get a 10 euro voucher, redeemable in the RITTER SPORT online shop for the anniversary edition of Settlers of Catan.
A very special extra: In cooperation with RITTER SPORT and the game designer Klaus Teuber, we worked on a special edition of the game. Die Siedler von Catan, der Schokoladenmarkt (The Settlers of Catan, the chocolate market): a collector’s item for real fans, available for purchase only by entering a voucher code online.
